Bass-baritone
World
Born in 1990 in Helsinki, the Finnish bass-baritone Kristian Lindroos Kristian Lindroos has established himself as a versatile and steadily rising artist on both the operatic stage and the concert platform. He has appeared at major Finnish venues including the Finnish National Opera and the Savonlinna Opera Festival, and also in international venues as Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, where he debuted as Young Henrik in Marco Tutino’s opera Le braci, and Festival della Valle d’Itria in Martina Franca, where he debuted in L’incoronazione di Poppea staged by Gianmaria Aliverta.
From 2023 to 2026, he has been a member of the soloist ensemble at Gothenburg Opera.
His operatic repertoire includes roles as Escamillo in Carmen, Caspar in Der Freischütz, Figaro in Le nozze di Figaro, Papageno in Die Zauberflöte, the King’s Herald in Lohengrin, as well as both title role and Masetto in Don Giovanni.
In addition to his stage work, Kristian Lindroos maintains an active concert career and has appeared with most of the leading Finnish orchestras, including the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra and Sinfonia Lahti. His concert repertoire includes works such as Bach’s St Matthew Passion, Händel’s Messiah, Haydn’s The Creation and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9. He has worked with conductors such as Sir Roger Norrington, Philippe Auguin, Hannu Lintu, Susanna Mälkki and Leif Segerstam.
Kristian Lindroos holds a Master’s degree in vocal performance from the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. He has further studied privately with Sherman Lowe, Jaakko Ryhänen and Irina Gavrilovici, and comes from a multi-generational family of singers.
His prizes include First Prize at the Lappeenranta Singing Competition (2016) and First Prize at the Merikanto Singing Competition (2022).
