Born in 1996 in Martina Franca (Puglia, Italy), Manuel Amati has begun his studies in opera singing at the age of 13, he graduated from the Liceo Musicale “Archita” in Taranto, then he specialized with Vincenzo Scalera, Roberto Scandiuzzi, Pietro Spagnoli, Domenico Colaianni, Celso Albelo.
In Summer 2018 Manuel Amati attended the Accademia Rossiniana in Pesaro and he had his debut at Rossini Opera Festival as Cavalier Belfiore in Il viaggio a Reims. In 2019 he has been invited back at ROF for L’equivoco stravagante, Messa di Milano, Petite Messe Solennelle and Il signor Bruschino.
In 2015 he won a scholarship to attend the “Scuola dell’Opera” of Teatro Comunale di Bologna and he had his debut on stage in the production of Rigoletto in Busseto for Festival Verdi. In 2016 he was a member of “Fabbrica – Young Artist Program” of Opera di Roma.
From 2016 to 2018 he attended the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Academy, where he studied with international leading artists and he had the chance to perform in many important productions of Opera di Firenze: La favorite (Don Gaspar) conducted by Fabio Luisi (released in CD and DVD by Dynamic); Gluck’s Alceste (Evandro) under tha baton of M° Sardelli and staged by Pierluigi Pizzi; Ludwig W. Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy op. 80 with Fabio Luisi (released by Amadeus magazine); La Dafne by M. da Gagliano at “Grotta del Buontalenti” in the Boboli Gardens conducted by Federico Maria Sardelli, La Antonio Salieri’s Scuola de’ gelosi (Tenente) at Teatro Goldoni and on tour in Italy, Vittorio Montalti’s Le leggi fondamentali della stupidità umana. Morover, he was on tour with Maggio Musicale Fiorentino Academy in China, where he sang in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Macao and Hong Kong.
A specialist of Rossini repertoire, he has already interpreted Conte d’Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia (Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Teatro La Fenice di Venezia, Teatro Municipale di Piacenza, Teatro Petruzzelli di Bari); Don Narciso (Martina Franca) and Albazar in Il turco in Italia (for his house debut at Teatro alla Scala di Milano, Salzburger Landestheater), Conte Alberto in L’occasione fa il ladro (Teatro Regio di Parma), Don Ramiro in La Cenerentola (Teatro Politeama Greco di Lecce, Teatro Regio di Torino).
At Festival della Valle d’Itria in Martina Franca he sang in the productions of Arianna a Nasso (2020), Piccinni’s Le donne vendicate (2017), Il turco in Italia.
Recent highlights are: Bach’s St John Passion in Trieste and in Udine; La Cenerentola (Don Ramiro) in Augsburg; Il barbiere di Siviglia at Olympia Theatre in Athens; Händel’s Ariodante (Lurcanio) at Festival della Valle D’Itria Martina Franca; Missa in illo tempore at Festival Monteverdi in Cremona with Modo Antiquo Orchestra; La Cenerentola (Don Ramiro) in Kiel; Rossini’s Stabat Mater in Lonato del Garda; Anna Bolena (Percy) in Hong Kong; Il turco in Italia (Don Narciso) at Festival della Valle D’Itria in Martina Franca; Il barbiere di Siviglia at Teatro Petruzzelli di Bari; Cimarosa’s Il matrimonio segreto (Paolino) with Kammerakademie Potsdam; Armida concert version at Rossini in Wildbad Belcanto Opera Festival; La scala di seta at Teatro Filarmonico di Verona; Haendel’s Messiah at Teatro Verdi in Trieste; Rossini’s Adina and the world premier of La Cucina by Andrew Synnott at Wexford Opera Festival.
